Web development learning path

Web development in brief

Web technologies have never been more in focus than they are now. HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript run everywhere, across operating systems and screen types. We have extensive experience in web development and are happy to share our knowledge.

Angular

Angular, or AngularJS, is a JavaScript framework maintained by Google. Angular makes it easy to build single-page applications (SPAs).

In recent years, HTML, CSS and TypeScript/JavaScript have moved web solutions from being content only to including dynamic functionality. Angular is the market-leading technology for developing data-driven web apps.

Angular is component-based and handles data binding, navigation and server communication. Angular uses TypeScript, so the web now has a serious, strongly typed, object-oriented programming language that can be used in scalable solutions. It is a great synergy between Google’s Angular and Microsoft’s TypeScript.

Angular is used to develop dynamic, component-driven web apps that run as “Single Page Applications.” A web app is always one and the same page, unlike in the past, when you primitively jumped from page to page.

With Angular, you can reference and handle/change the individual components on the page without having to redraw an entirely new page.

React

With React, you can build advanced, dynamic web apps like the ones we all know from Facebook, for example, and give users a much better experience than traditional websites.

React is a framework that helps developers build advanced, user-friendly web apps. It was originally developed by a software engineer at Facebook and was released as open source in 2013. Facebook itself is built with React.

Facebook continuously and very actively develops React, and  version 18 was released in 2022. Because it is open source, React's development is driven by a combination of Facebook's own developers and a huge community of developers from all over the world.

JavaScript/TypeScript

The web app client runs in the browser and is written in HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript, but the days when you opened Notepad with a blank document and started writing HTML are long gone.

Today there is a wide range of JavaScript frameworks that make development much, much easier!

The requirements for a web app or website today are many, for example:

  • Dynamic content on pages, typically from a database
  • A professional user interface on par with a native app
  • Dynamic display of graphical elements on the pages, animations, …
  • Intelligent adaptation to screen size (laptop, tablet, smartphone, …)
  • Access to hardware on the client device
  • …
