Description
Python is a modern, flexible and readable programming language used widely for everything from automation and scripting to advanced data analysis, machine learning and systems development. In this course, you learn the basic techniques and build a solid understanding of the language and its uses, whether you plan to use Python for data science, machine learning, big data, IoT, scripting, systems development or something else entirely.
You are introduced to:
- Python's data types: numbers, strings, lists, arrays and dictionaries
- Code structure: modules, packages and code reuse
- Control structures: if statements, loops and functions with parameters, including how Python combines classic structures with its own "Pythonic" variants that make it easy to work efficiently with large amounts of data
- Error handling with exceptions and safe file handling
- Object-oriented programming in Python: classes, objects and inheritance
- Pythonic code: readability, style and the use of efficient language constructs
- Regular expressions for pattern matching and validation
We also dig into function abstraction: how data is passed to functions through parameters and how results are returned, a central element of structured Python code.
You get hands-on experience writing and running Python code. The course combines theory with exercises, so you both understand how the language is built and can use it right away. We work with examples that make it easy to apply what you have learned to your own projects.
The course is relevant if you:
- Are new to Python and want to learn the language from scratch
- Work with data and scripting, need to automate tasks or build internal tools
- Want the technical understanding to write and adapt Python code together with AI tools such as ChatGPT
