Description

Microsoft 365 Copilot has grown from a chat partner in the side pane into an active coworker that can plan and carry out tasks on its own. This course is based on the full, licensed version of Copilot, not the free Copilot Chat that comes with Microsoft 365 without an extra license. You notice the difference in practice: the full license gives Copilot direct access to your Microsoft 365 apps and to your organization's data through Microsoft Graph, including the built-in specialized agents we work with in the course. In the course, you get a firm grasp of both the everyday Copilot features in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams, and agents that you either use or build yourself to solve specific tasks.

In Word, you learn to generate, rewrite and structure text from a short description. You also learn to use Copilot's built-in Edit feature, where Copilot independently plans and edits an entire document in multiple steps instead of just responding to one prompt at a time. In PowerPoint, you build presentations directly from your own documents or a short brief, and you learn to fine-tune layout, images and speaker notes so the result is ready to use.

In the Excel part, you ask questions about your data in plain language and have Copilot build formulas, PivotTables and charts for you. You also learn to ask Copilot more open-ended questions about your data, where Copilot works out the right approach on its own and carries out the analysis in multiple steps, and you learn to evaluate the results critically.

In Outlook and Teams, you get the tools to save time in your day-to-day communication: summarizing and prioritizing emails, suggested replies, and natural language for managing your calendar. In Teams, we look at how Copilot summarizes meetings, collects action items and can act as a facilitator during the meeting itself.

Agents are a central and rapidly growing part of Microsoft 365 Copilot, so they take up a large part of the course. You learn the difference between a regular Copilot conversation and an agent that is limited to a specific task, a specific set of data or a specific role. You get an overview of the built-in agents you already have access to, including Researcher for research and citations, Analyst for deeper data analysis in the chat, and the Planner agent for creating and prioritizing tasks. You also build your own agent with Agent Builder: a built-in, no-code feature where you describe the agent's purpose in plain language, add knowledge sources such as SharePoint or your own documents, and test and share the agent with your colleagues. We also look at how governance works in practice, including the fact that an agent can never access more data than you have access to yourself, and when it makes sense to move on to the full version of Copilot Studio.

After the course, you can:

  • Write effective prompts and choose the right AI model in Copilot Chat
  • Generate and edit content in Word and PowerPoint, including having Copilot edit an entire document in multiple steps
  • Analyze and visualize data in Excel with Copilot
  • Streamline email and meeting management in Outlook and Teams
  • Distinguish between a regular Copilot conversation, a built-in agent and an agent you build yourself
  • Use built-in agents such as Researcher, Analyst and the Planner agent in your daily work
  • Build, test and share your own agent with Agent Builder
  • Assess data access and responsible use of Copilot and agents in your organization

This course is ideal if you work in Microsoft 365 every day and want to go from using Copilot occasionally to using it systematically, both in your daily work and through agents that can handle well-defined tasks for you or your team.

It's calm and quiet at SuperUsers' country venue. Good atmosphere and catering. Some thought has gone into healthy eating when it comes to food and cake, so it doesn't get completely out of hand.

The instructor is knowledgeable about the topics and readily puts them in a broader perspective by relating them to other relevant areas. It's rewarding that this is possible too, and it gives you ideas for further study.

In addition, the instructor was engaged and entertaining to have presenting the content.
